PURPOSE:To observe temp. images corresponding to the magnitudes of stresses visually by allowing a member to be measured and a material covering the surface thereto to evolve heat by the effect of the stresses. CONSTITUTION:When a member S to be measured is oscillated by a suitable means, it receives repetitive stresses, and evolves heat in the part where the stresses are max. A polyester resin coated in tight contact with the member S evolves in the same place as well. Since the resin 2 is lower in heat conductivity than the member s, it holds the heat without dissipating the same and therefore the temp. difference on the surface of the resin is larger than that of the member S. This results in that the heat sensitive liquid crystal 5 coated on the surface of the resin 2 changes its hue variously with the temp. change, thus the stripe patterns of stress concentrated parts 3, 4 are identified by colors clearly, and the data of good accuracy is obtained. |
