A rearing arrangement for animals especially pigs in which cages are arranged in several storeys, there being at least one row of cages in each storey, is provided with cleaning members 5 movable over droppings trays 4 located below each storey of cages, and a dispensing device 21 for cleansing fluid located at one end of the tray the member 5 moving the cleansing fluid and excreta on the trays to an outlet 8 at the other end of the tray. The members 5 each comprise a number of units connected by flexible straps each unit having a stainless steel or plastics head to which a cleaning unit of sponge-like material is replaceably attached. The dispensing device comprises a pipe 21 provided with openings and connected by hoses 22 and a valve to a container of cleansing fluid. Each member 5 is attached to an endless driving element 9 driven by motor 13. The members 5 and dispensing device 21 are operated at predetermined times for a predetermined period under the control of a programmed controlling mechanism. |
