PURPOSE:To detect a desired specific stroke in an extremely high speed, by using both the superposition information of a stroke to be detected and a check stroke and the cross information of both strikes in a hierarchical way. CONSTITUTION:An existing region reading circuit 2 reads successively existing regions a1-an which are stored in stroke storing devices M1-Mn and delivers them to an existing region overlap detecting circuit 3. A check stroke C crossing a specific stroke S1 to be detected is supplied to a 2-dimensional input surface 4. Thus an existing region (b) of the stroke C is calculated by an existing region arithmetic circuit 5 and transmitted to the circuit 3. The circuit 3 detects the overlap between the region (b) and the regions a1-an supplied from the circuit 2, and transmits an overlap existing region ai to a candidate stroke data reading circuit 6. The circuit 6 receives the data of strokes S1-Sn at a side and supplies the data of the candidate stroke to a cross detecting circuit 7. The circuit 7 discriminates the candidate stroke crossing in a 2-dimentional way from the specific stroke to be detected and delivers it. |
