PURPOSE:To provide a hair tonic having extremely remarkable hair tonic effect without exhibiting side effects of hormones such as female hormones, etc., by using 4-androsten-3-one-17beta-carboxylic acid having anti-androgen activity as an active component. CONSTITUTION:4-Androsten-3-one-17beta-carboxylic acid of formula is used as an active component, and is added e.g. directly to the substrate. It is applied, pref. in the form of hair lotion, hair oil, hair cream, etc. which can be directly applied to or rubbed in the skin of the head. The amount of the active component is pref. 0.001-0.1% of the whole composition. The composition may contain salicylic acid and other pharmaceutical components, or other additives. By the direct application of the hair tonic thus obtained to the skin of the head, the falling of hair is suppressed, and the restoration and growth of hair is promoted. |
