Continuously extruded material accurately cut to length - by revolving cutter driven by electromagnetic clutch triggered by electronic length measurement

A cutting device for cutting off equal lengths of drawn, continuously extruded material comprises a cutting knife mounted on a revolving shaft. The shaft is driven by a belt drive. Between the driven pulley and the part of the shaft carrying the revolving cutting knife (15) an electromagnetically engaged special clutch (7) is incorporated; an electronic length measuring device measures off the length of extruded material and accordingly triggers the clutch, engaging it to rotate the cutting knife through a predetermined angle. The cut is always made after an exact length of extruded material has passed through the cutting gap, regardless of the speed of movement of ths material. Thus no specal adstments to varying speeds are required.
