PURPOSE:To select a specified gear quickly by holding the gear to be checked by a pair of probes, measuring the distance between said probe, engaging the gear to be checked and master teeth, and measuring the relative displacement in the direction of the depth of both devices. CONSTITUTION:Displacement gages 1 and 2 measure the displacement with respect to fixing members 5 by holding the gear to be checked G which is engaged with master gears 14-16 in the direction of the depth of the master teeth 14-16 by actuators 6 and 7. A voltage signal corresponding to the measured result is imputted to an operation and control device 8. The operation and control device 8 obtains the difference between the values measured by the displacement gages 1 and 2 by computation, and the distance between the actuators 6 and 7 is computed. Said distance indicates the outer diameter or its approximated value of the gear to be checked G. The judgement as to whether this gear is a specified gear or not is performed, and judged signal is outputted to a selecting device 17. |
