PURPOSE:A recording ink with good recordability, jetting stability and jetting response, and excellent resistance to light, water and wear, giving an image with high contrast and clarity, which is prepd. by incorporating a specified dye having a sulfone group in a solvent. CONSTITUTION:A dye of formulaI(wherein A and B are phenyl or naphthyl; D and E are each a P-phenylene group or 1,4-naphthylene group; X is -CH2-, -O-, -S-, -CONH-, -NHCONH-, a group of formula II or III; R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are each H, hydroxyl, amino, sulfone or a salt therefrom) having 2-8 sulfone groups in one molecule, is dissolved in a solvent. The dye of the formulaIis, e.g., a dye of formula IV, V, etc. The solvent is primarily composed of water, to which an org. water-soluble solvent may be added. An agent for adjusting viscosity, surface tension, specific resistance, pH, etc. may be incorporated in order to adjust physical properties of the ink. |
