A method for reactivating a catalyst, which comprises previously heat-treating a used catalyst containing molybdenum as an active ingredient having a reduced activity under specific temperature conditions in a reducing gas atmosphere with or without adding thereto a molybdenum source, and then heat treating it under specific temperature conditions in a molecular oxygen-containing gas atmosphere.
