PURPOSE:To accurately measure the concentration of residual chlorine in service aty water after treating by chlorine in a short time, by electrolyzing after converting the residual chlorine into iodine and measuring its electrolytic current. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 10a, 10b made of gold (or platinum) applying voltage by a constant voltage power source 11 are provided on a conduit 13 connecting a liquid bath 8 provided with an overflow pipe 19 with a liquid bath 14 provided with an overflow pipe 16. A potassium iodide solution 4 from a bath 2 introducing through a conduct 6 and a valve 7 and a solution to be measured 3 from the bath 1 introducing through a conduct 5, are mixed and residual chlorine in the solution 3 is converted into iodine (shown by an expression) in the bath 8. Next, said solution is introduced into the conduit 13 and the value of electrolytic current of iodine is found by a galvanometer 12 and then, the amount of the residual chlorine in the solution to be inspected is determined by using obtained current value. |
