EM clutch for engine cooling fans - is for low and high powered engines and has fan mounted on disc forming parts of magnetic circuit

The electromagnetic clutch for fans providing an air stream through the radiators of both low and high power vehicle engines, the fan being driven only when correct working temperature has been attained in order to maximise engine efficiency. The clutch is attached to the radiator end of the engine (11) by a frame in which is centred the clutch shaft (18) running in bearings and held in place by a shoulder (19) and a securing nut (21). The electro-magnetic coil (54) is non-rotating and is positioned in a recess in a circular plate (33) driven by a belt from the engine. The fan is mounted on a second disc (25) which forms part of the magnetic circuit and which is engaged with a friction surface (43) on the first disc when the coil is powered.
