The ester may be a phthalate, particularly dioctyl phthalate, a benzoate, a phosphate, e.g. tricresyl phosphate, mixtures of these with each other or with other insulating liquids, e.g. dibutyl sebacate, castor oil, mineral oil, alkyl naphthalenes, polybutenes and dodecylbenzene. The epoxide may constitute 0À01 to 10% by weight of the impregnant, or even more where it can itself function as an impregnant.
