PURPOSE:To accurately and rapidly grasp a proceeding condition of fermentation, by a method wherein an amount of a particular fraction in a thermal decomposition product of a sample compost is measured. CONSTITUTION:A sample compost is decomposed by heat at 350-470 deg.C and an amount of a fraction (fractions C9-C16, or fractions C16-C23) consisting of a chemical compound, having 1-16 carbon atoms, in a product, is measured. This measures a proceeding condition of fermentation. A numeral 11 represents a thermal decomposition furnace, where a sample is decomposed by heat, and a thermal decomposition product is fed to a gas chromatography device 14 together with carrier gas fed from a carrier gas cylinder 13 through a switching valve 12. A given component, adsorbed for separation by means of a separating column 15, is detected by a detector 16, and is recorded by means of a recorder 17. |
