PURPOSE:To restrict the center buckle of a strip, and to simplify the construction of shape adjuster, by installing an apparatus for bending an outer work roll in a direction vertical to the acting direction of the rolling load. CONSTITUTION:The roll shocks of a work roll are divided into two chock elements 5, 5'; the breadth of inner chock element 5 is prepared so as to leave a gap against a housing window with ordinary accuracy; the breadth of outer shock element 5' is prepared so as to leave a gap against the housing window with a sufficient margin permitting the outer chock element 5' to move vertically to the axial center of a central roll, outer roll and backup roll within the housing window. A plunger 6 is actuated to apply a bending force to the outer chock element 5' so as to transversely bend the roll as shown by a line D in the illustration; hereby, the gap at the most adjacent part between the middle zone of the roll and the central small diameter roll is effectively widened so that the center buckle of the strip is restricted. On the other hand, if the roll providing the transverse bending force, is driven by a backup driving method, the generation of a chattering phenomenon caused by precession of a roll coupling part due to the deflection of the work roll is restricted. |
