The invention relates to a shut-off valve for high pressures, in particular for high-pressure spray guns. The known solutions still have certain deficiencies: either there is a need for closing springs, which in the case of certain proposed solutions are surrounded by the liquid and corrode, or there is a need for bypass passages, which increase the production costs, or there is an excessive number of sealing elements, which have a negative effect on reliability of operation. The aim of the invention is a very simple solution which does not have these deficiencies and can be operated with little expenditure of force. According to the invention, this is achieved by virtue of the fact that a hollow cylindrical control piston is mounted with a defined clearance in a housing and this piston has a sealing seat on the inside and a valve cone on the outside. Mounted in the control piston is a valve body, the tappet of which is passed through to the outside and can be moved counter to the prevailing pressure by means of the operating lever. The shut-off valve has only a small number of components.
