PURPOSE:To reduce heat transfer to a photoreceptor and prevent damaging of the photoreceptor and fixing of toner images on the photoreceptor by making the contact period of the photoreceptor and an intermediate medium shorter than the contact period of the intermediate medium and copying paper. CONSTITUTION:Toner images 2 are pressed by a pressing member 7 onto a transfer belt 3, and are transferred to the belt 3 by tack, by which transfer images 2' are formed. The images 2' are melted by heating roller 5, and is retransferred and fixed to copying paper 8 between a press roller 6 and the belt 3. Here, the contact width l1 of the transfer part is made shorter than the contact width l2 of the fixing and transferring parts. Then, the heat transfer from the belt 3 to a photoreceptor 1 and the images 2 is very slight, and the damaging of the photoreceptor and the melting and fixing of the images 2 on the photoreceptor owing to temp. rise are prevented. |
