The electron gun for minimizing the astigmatism to get the high resolution of the image includes a pair of variable potential electrodes (4,5) placed between divided focus electrodes (1) and applying the voltage being proportional to the deflection signal, and a fixed potential electrode (6) placed between the variable potential electrodes and applying voltage being the same as one of the focus electrodes so that the electron gun generated the oval shape electron beam reducing the deflection aberration.
