PURPOSE:To make the focusing state of an object detectable rapidly and to simplify circuit constitution by performing A/D conversion of image information in parallel by the use of continuous analog reference signals and digital signals. CONSTITUTION:The analog reference signals within a prescribed range are generated 42 continuously and are respectively compared 411-41n with the output image information of photodetectors 23A, 23B, the digital signals having prescribed correspondence to the reference signals are generated 54, and the results of the respective comparisons are A/D converted and are written into memories 481-48n. In this case, at the point of time when one of the outputs of the comparators 41 inverts, said output is written into the corresponding memory, and at the point of the time when the reference signals attain prescribed levels, the digital quantity of the image information carresponding to the memories 48 is written. These digital image signals are operated based on the predetermined evaluation functions, whereby the focusing state of object images is detected 25 and is displayed 26. |
