PURPOSE:To reduce erroneous detections by carrying out an error detection by making use of the regularity of a code conversion and regarding the group as erroneous if it contains even an error of a word. CONSTITUTION:Video data are supplied from an input terminal 1 to a multiplexer 2, time axis compressing circuits 3a and 3b, error correction encoders 4a and 4b plus recording processors 5a and 5b respectively. The processors 5a and 5b convert the 8 bits of a sample into 10 bits based on a converting rule which is decided previously. The reproduced signals extracted from a magnetic tape are supplied to terminals 11a-11d. Reproduction processors 13a-13d convert 10 bits into 8 bits. In this case, an error detection is carried out for the data of 96 samples of a block with every 24 samples. Even if just a word is not coincident with the converting rule, all words are decided as erroneous. In such a way, the mistake of detection is reduced in a detection of errors. |
