<p>The adjustable mounting is used for a convex, wide angle wing mirror. It has the mirror (2) pivoted about an axis (8) in the direction of travel. The mirror mounting has a tapered shaft (17) which locates in a tapered bore in a support bracket (10) fitted to the car. The mating faces of the tapers are splined to locate the fitting rotationally. The effective angle of the mirror is adjustable by the setting in the splined fitting. This ensures a universal fitting to most vehicles. The upper end of the mounting shaft is slotted (6) to grip the flat support flange (5) of the mirror, with only a straight bolt (8) providing the swing adjustment.</p> |
