The system can rapidly test the sensitivity, accuracy and adjustment of ultrasonic test instruments. It consists of transmitter, receivers and display units. It is portable and can be taken to work sites to carry out rapid calibrations and to standardise a large number of instruments. The system uses a calibrated test specimen, which is used as a reference length. It is rigidly linked to an ultrasonic test probe subjected to a constant pressure. The coupling layer (8) is rigid. The ultrasonic test instrument is rigidly attached to the coupling layer.
