A mobile communication system and method for changing an uplink modulation technique and a mobile communication terminal therefor are provided to change the uplink modulation technique by comparing CQI(Channel Quality Indicator) information calculated on the basis of wireless quality information with a preset reference value, thereby increasing uplink wireless capacities. A mobile communication network divides a rank by a preset reference value based on measured wireless quality information, and calculates CQI information(S101,S103). Depending on whether the calculated CQI information is more than a preset reference rank, an uplink modulation technique is decided on, or a modulation technique calculated on the basis of CQI information transmitted from a base station is set to the uplink modulation technique. Information is modulated by the set uplink modulation technique, so that the modulated information is transmitted to the mobile communication network.
