When mounting a door handle 7 in a door 12 having a previously inserted door lock, the spindle hole 25 of the door lock is not precisely centred relative to the circular hole through the door 12, into which the bearing 8 of the door handle 7 is to be introduced. The use of a guide member 2 for fastening and centring this bearing 8 compensates for this imprecision, the guide member 2 being a plate-like element with fitting hole for the bearing 8 of the door handle 7. The guide member 2 has an off-circular periphery, which, when the fitting hole is precisely concentric with the spindle hole 25 of the door lock, partially juts beyond the circular edge of the door hole. The guide member 2 configured as a plate-like element also has openings for pass-through assembly bolts 10. In a process for fitting the guide member 2 in a door 12 such that the fitting hole is precisely concentric with the spindle hole 25 of the lock, the spindle hole 25 and at least one of the openings of the lock are used respectively as centring means and orientation means for parallel guide arbors on a woodworking tool, after which material at the edge of the door handle hole is removed to a depth equal to the thickness of the plate-like element and with a contour identical to the periphery of the plate-like element. <IMAGE> |
