PURPOSE:A remedy for nephritis that contains an essence of an evergreen needle- leaf tree, ichii, (Japanese yew tree, Taxus cuspidata) as an effective principle. CONSTITUTION:Wood parts of Ichii (japanese yew tree) is soaked in warm water and the extract is concentrated under reduced pressure at temperatures lower than 80 deg.C and the residue is used as the active principle. Nephlisis is related to antigen- antibody complex formed in blood streams and it is said that the complex precipitates on the basal membranes of glomeruli to liberate various kinds of chemical mediators on the course of complement activation and cause disorders in renal tissues. The administration of the aqueoue extract of Ichii tree to animals with experimentally caused nephlisis prohibits the increase in urea protein and reduction in serum complement value, thus depressing the immunological reaction in nephlisis. |
