Electronic fuel control system for diesel engine - has throttle reducing fuel when injection pump controller fails

The control system has a controller for a fuel-injection pump and a fuel supply line connected to the inlet side of the injection pump. A hydraulic device is located in the fuel supply line and reduces the quantity of fuel supplied when the controller fails whilst the speed is increasing. The device consists of a throttle (7). The throttle is located in the supply line to the pump (5) or it may be located inside the pump in the inlet space before the pump's control holes. A second throttle (10) may be located in the outlet line from the pump. The settings of the two throttles depend on the position of the accelerator pedal (3).
