PURPOSE:To remove water from a positive electrode active material in a short period of time, by mixing and kneading manganese dioxide containing nickel oxyhydroxide, which has in advance been subjected to a micro wave irradiation, treatment, with a conductive material and binder and then forming the mixture into a sheet. CONSTITUTION:Fifty grams of manganese dioxide containing nickel oxyhydroxide, for example a mixture of 20wt% of gamma-type nickel oxyhydroxide passed through a sieve of 100 mesh and 80wt% of manganese dioxide are placed in a container made of quartz glass, to which a micro wave of an output 200W and frequency 2,400-2,500MHz is irradiated for 20-50sec. In a V-mixer, 90.6wt% of the thus-prepared nickel oxyhydroxide-containing manganese dioxide, 7.5wt% of graphite powder and 2.0wt% of polytetrafluoroethylene are mixed. Thereafter, the resultant mixture is kneaded in a kneader maintained at 150 deg.C and rolled by rollers kept at 150 deg.C into a sheet. In this manner, the removal of water contained in an active material can be effected in a short period of time. Thus, there has been provided a production method which does not modify the active material. |
