PURPOSE:To improve moisture resistance, and further improve sensitivity, charge holding property, etc. by forming a photoconductive layer consisting of ZnO, sensitizing dyes and a binder then washing the surface of the photoconductive layer with a solvent which dissolves the sensitizing dyes. CONSTITUTION:The photoconductive coating comprising dispersing ZnO powder for electrophotography and a sensitizing dye such as rose bengal in a solvent and allowing the dye to absorb on ZnO then dispersing ZnO in a binder soln. is prepd. This coating is coated on a conductive substrate and is dried, and the surface of the resulted photoconductive layer is washed with a solvent such as ethanol which dissolves the sensitizing dye, whereby the sensitizing dye which has not been adsorbed on ZnO is removed. By the removal of the unadsorbed dye in this way, the superior images which are small in the decrease in charge potential, the increase in darkdecay, the decrease in sensitivity, etc., and are less in the formation of photographic fogs under high humidity are formed. |
