<p>A rotating drum for the treatment, esp. dry-cleaning, of textiles is mounted in circumferential electromagnetic bearings. Each of the bearings forms a complete ring, which is so positioned that it exerts a force in both axial and radial directions. The drum has a wide, central aperture at both ends so two or more machines may be mounted in-line, allowing a through-feed of articles from one drum to the next. The drums are independently driven by a belt which passes around the circumference. This arrangement represents an improved, frictionless bearing for the drum, which also leaves both ends free for the ports which allow one-way through-feeding of the articles being treated.</p> |
