<p>The method of attaching a variable resistance with a rotary control spindle to a base plate such as a printed circuit board uses a locating member to retain the device ready for making the soldered connections. The device has a plastics plate (2) at the bottom through which the wires protrude. A resilient peg (21) projecting from this plate fits into a hole through the printed circuit board, holding the device in position. The peg is a hollow cylinder with a conical outside surface (24) divided by longitudinal slits (23). It fits into a hole located in the middle of a circle of holes for the soldering wires, and can be of the same length or shorter than the wires.</p> |
