<p>The pipe coupling consists of a barrel nipple (12) which has a grooved spigot (22) at each end onto which fits the flexible tube (38). The end of the tube fits into an annular groove (26). A split olive (30) fits over the flexible tube. A cap nut (40) fits over both the tube and the olive and screws onto the barrel nipple. The split olive has chamfered edges (34) which engage with a similar taper (28) in the barrel nipple and one (30) in the cap nut. When the nut is tightened a squeezing action closes the split olive onto the flexible tube and locks the latter into the coupling.</p> |
