PURPOSE:To enhance the high-load discharge characteristic of a battery by mixing manganese dioxide which undergoes heat treatment at a given temperature with both a conductive material and a binding agent to make a positive mixture, before the mixture is subjected to a given heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:An organic electrolyte battery includes a negative active material made of Li and a positive active material made of manganese dioxide. The positive electrode of the battery is made of a positive mixture which is prepared by mixing both a conductive material and a binding agent with manganese dioxide which undergoes heat treatment at a temperature of not less than 200 deg.C and less than 350 deg.C, before the mixture is molded. Following that, the molded positive mixture is heated at a temperature of 220-370 deg.C for over 2hr. If it is required, the process from at least 3min before the end of the heating of the former molded positive mixture through the finish of the sealing of the battery, should be done in a dry atmosphere of a moisture of below 5%. |
