The sailboard is generally conventional, but the middle portion embodies a surface-parallel recess housing a guide-bar carrying a wheel. This bar can slide to move the wheel between a retracted and an extended position, being held in either by pins in the board engaging notches in the bar. Hydrodynamically favourable surface conditions are maintained by fitting a cover to the wheel recess. The guide-bar may embody a hinge whereby the wheel plane can be made parallel to the board's vertical centre plane and the board transported upright. Other wheel locations are also possible.
