<p>A non-invasive birth control device in the form of a custom-formed, valved cervical cap (10). The cervical cap (10) comprises a cup-shaped elastomeric shell (22) substantially complementary with contiguous surface of portio vaginalis cervicis when in contact therewith and having an aperture (27) at the apex of the shell. The cap can also have a depending skirt (30) that is thinner than the shell and which has a plurality of spaced slits (32) about the periphery thereof. The aperture (27) is covered by an elastomeric web (29) secured to the shell (22) and defines, together with the shell (22), a one-way valve means having a discharge port (43) offset from the aperture. The cervical cap (10) can be fabricated from specially designed blank of thermoplastic elastomeric material using a replica of cervix uteri as a mold. </p> |
