Buoyancy elements for rafts etc. are made from flexible film incorporating or supporting a series of air-filled pockets spaced so that the film can be folded or rolled. Suitable for enclosure within the bodies of life rafts, pontoons, inflatable boats, etc., or simply confined by e.g. lashings or netting. Also claimed for mfr. of barrages comprising rigid enclosures packed with such buoyant and linked by combination of flexible bellows and the wires. Pref. the film is made of material resistant to sea water, e.g. polyethylene. Typically the pockets have a diam. (d) of at least 15 mm and are spaced at intervals of at least 2D: the pockets may be integrated between layers of laminated film, or superficial hollow bubbles bonded or tied to the sheet face .
|
