Hide splitting machine - with waisted drive roll deflected in transport direction by set screws

A machine for the processing (splitting) of hides, skins and leather feeds the workpiece between a drive roll and a back-up roll. The back-up roll has a central waisted section which is gradually reduced in diameter e.g. by 10%. Lateral guide strips one straight and one curved by adjustable setscrews, impose a deflection in the direction of transport to the drive roll. This ensures that the peripheral areas of a skin, which are longer than the central areas, are transported at a greater speed and th4ow no folds when treated by the splitting blades.
