PURPOSE:To easily set the contact pressure of a bimetal switch by providing within an outer tube, a square U-shaped frame which is made of a heat-resistant isolating material and has a stepped portion at an end face thereof, a plurality of bimetal switches disposed on the stepped portion, and a filament secured at a central portion of the frame. CONSTITUTION:Within the outer tube 11 of a metal halide lamp or the like, are disposed a luminous tube 1 and a square U-shaped frame 26 made of steatite and provided with a stepped portion. The first and second bimetal switches 17, 18 are attached on the steps 26d-26g, which switches 17, 18 are respectively formed of bimetal members 17b, 18b and contacts 17c, 18c, 17e and 18e, and a heating filament 21 is secured on the frame 26 at a central portion thereof. The frame 26 is secured to a support frame 27 by means of a mounting plate 27. Therefore, it can be performed easily and securely to make shorter the actuation time of the bimetal switch 17 than that of the bimetal switch 18 by adjusting the contact pressures thereof, and the filament 21 may also be supported constant, so that the production of the discharge lamp can be rendered easier. |
