<p>An offset printing plate has a hydrophilic surface consisting of an alloy of compsn. (by wt.) 40-90% Sn and 10-60% Cu, esp. speculum, which may also contain up to 20% Zn, Co, Ni or Cd. The alloy is pref. used as an underlayer for a layer of Cr or Sn-Ni.. The alloy layer has a high hardness, can easily be deposited with a (semi-)matte finish, is compatible with other metal or organic layers used in printing plates and is hydrophilic and ink- repellant.</p> |
