The anchor for all types of watercraft, which can be raised without using brute force, has flukes pivoted transversely inside one end of a shaft in the form of a very elongated loop. A stirrup through this loop carries the stock, coplanar with the flukes, supported by springs pressing it towards the shaft. The stock carries the shackle. An outwards-pointing spike on the shaft-end remote from the flukes engages a recess in the stock when there is no load on the anchor. Loading breaks this connection so that the stirrup assembly can be pulled to the shaft's other end.
|
