<p>The valve gear for an engine includes a plate (4) between the cam on an overhead camshaft (2) and a cylindrical pad above the valve stem (13). This has a stepped outer sleeve enclosing a stepped inner sleeve, with a spring (11), between them. The inner sleeve encloses a further spring (14) around the valve stem. This is incorporated in a hydraulic control. The stepped parts of these sleeves form a pressure chamber (18) communicating with a leakage channel (21) with a variable throttle (25). This is formed by a plunger operated by a further cam. Another channel (22) connected to this chamber communicates with a non return valve (26).</p> |
