The angle of the deflector is maximised during acceleration and braking by an electrical circuit driving a motor and reduction gear (6) on operation of the drivers brake pedal. The gearing operates a rack (10) and pinion (11), with the pinion mounted on a shaft (12) carrying the deflector (1). The reduction gear system will automatically bring the deflector back to the re-acceleration position immediately after a deceleration in the vehicle. The foot pedal switch may alternately be replaced by an acceleration sensor or butterfly valve switch. In the case where the brake pedal is used the circuit consists of a pair of relays (21,20) powered from the brake light (16,17) circuit. These control the supply sense to the motor via rack limit switches (38,43). The maximum and minimum angles of the deflector are determined by the position of two switches (38,43) at the end of the track which activate relays.
|
