The waterproof seal has a foam strip (3) impregnated with adhesive applied as a bonding layer between overlapping edges of adjoining car body panels (1,2), with bolts providing additional security. The outer surfaces of the foam are heat treated to become non-porous. The heat treatment occurs in the baking process for the paintwork and forms a durable seal. The metal surface adjacent to the foam is pretreated with corrosion inhibitor or a bitumen. The foam provides a simple seal with the body panels removable when damaged.(DS). |
