The Vitamin B 1 -requiring yeast need not necessarily be hydrocarbon assimilating. Biotin-requiring, hydrocarbon assimilating yeasts: specified species of the genera Candida, Debaryomyces, Mycotorula, Pichia and Torulopsis. Vitamin B 1 -requiring yeasts: specified species of the genera Candida, Rhodotorula, Torulopsis and Trichosporon. The Vitamin B 1 -requiring yeast should be present in the culture broth in an amount of at least 1% of the total number of cells, though much greater proportions than this are used according to the Examples.</p> |
