PURPOSE:To efficiently deodorize the air containing multiple kinds of malodorous components with a simple operation by disposing a reacting agent packed layer consisting in carrying bromide or iodide in carriers and a device of admitting an ozonizing gas into said packed layer by mixing the same with the air to be treated. CONSTITUTION:A reacting agent packed layer 14 consisting in carrying water- soluble bromide or iodide in porous ceramic carriers is provided in a reactor and an active carbon packed layer 15 in the form of particles is provided at the stage behind said layer. A titled apparatus is so constituted as to mix the ozonizing gas 11 generated in an ozone generator 9 with the air 1 to be treated and introducing the same into said reacting agent packed layer 14. With this apparatus, a slight amount of malodorous materials such as H2S which have not been removed with conventional apparatus are oxidation-decomposed by the highly reactive HBrO formed by ozone oxidation in the packed layer 14 and unreacted O3 etc. are adsorped and removed by the layer 15. Depending upon the target odor, a scrubbing tower using an aqueous solution containing an alkali agent or water-soluble reducing agent is provided in place of the above-mentioned layer 15. |
