发明名称 Arc welding process - involves vibrating the free end of a consumable electrode, within the space between two metal workpieces to be welded
摘要
A weld is formed in a space between the walls of two metal pieces to be welded, the process involving moving a consumable electrode in a torch and subsequently into the space while the two workpieces and the welding torch are moved relative to each other so that the torch is moved along or reciprocated within the space. A sufficiently high voltage is applied between the workpieces and the consumable electrode to form an arc to melt the electrode and at least a portion of the walls of the workpieces, the electrode reciprocating across the space. The reciprocation frequency is >=6H2, during welding, the free end of the electrode is located within the space while at the ends of each reciprocating cycle of the electrode, an impact force is applied to interrupt the electrode movement towards the wall in the direction of which it has moved before the application of the force and immediately after the application of the impact force, the electrode is moved away from the wall to approach the opposite wall so that the molten metal at the free end of the electrode is projected against the wall. The process is suitable for use in nuclear reactor pipes since the weld obtd. is spread out and the penetration is not excessively deep. The process is advantageous for surface hardening since penetration is slight.
