<p>A rotary shaft seal assembly includes an O-ring (7) which is located in a radial groove (4) on the shaft bearing collar (2). The axial width of the seal ring location groove (4) is slightly less than the O-ring thickness. The base of the seal ring location groove (4) is linked to the pressure side (5) by a small axial hole (8) in the shaft collar (2). Thus the O-ring is forced outwards against the bearing sleeve (1) by the applied pressure, therefore increasing its sealing capacity.</p> |
