PURPOSE:To treat PCB-containing waste materials in a small-scale equipment efficiently by a method wherein PCB-containing waste materials are heated and melted to evaporate and burn PCB, and the resulting gases are burnt by an oxygen- fuel burner. CONSTITUTION:Waste materials 1 such as PCB-containing electric apparatuses are fed into a melting chamber 5 through a feeding portion 4 comprising two dumpers 2, 3. The melting chamber 5 is provided with an oxygen-fuel burner 6 and an oxygen lance 7, and the waste materials 1 in the chamber 5 are heated by the burner 6, to start the melting of aluminum and the like, the combustion of paper, and the evaporation and combustion of liquid PCB. The waste gases arising from the incineration are directed into a combustion chamber 11, deprived of PCB by an oxygen-fuel burner 12, and directed into a waste-gas treating equipment through a flue 13. In this case, excess or deficiency of oxygen is calculated by an arithmetic unit 18 connected with analyzers 15-17 for CO2 CO and O2, and oxygen flow control valves 20 and 25 are controlled. |
