Protective tube for insulator in electro static separator - has hyperboloid shape to permit cleaning of inside of insulator

The protective tube protects the high-voltage insulator from dust or particle deposits and against condensed vapour. The tube has a hyperboloid shape described by x2 - y2 = z2 where x is the largest radius, z is the smallest radius and y is half the length of the tube. The min. value for z is 7.6 cm. The tube is located on the underside of the hollow cylindrical insulator. The shape allows the inside of the h.v. insulator to be cleaned whilst at the same time preventing contaminated gas flowing back and contacting with the insulator.
