[Also in Division C3] Glass fibre reinforced laminates are prepared by curing a liquid polymerizable composition comprising I an ethylenically unsaturated cross linkable polyester having a molecular weight per double bond factor of 150 to 186, II a thermoplastic polymer, III an ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with polyester I to effect cross linking thereof and which is a solvent for polymer II, components I, II and III being intimately mixed, and IV a reinforcing fibrous filler, the composition being polymerizable to form a continuous phase comprising cross linked polymer and, dispersed therethrough an opaque, or nearly opaque, discontinuous phase containing the thermoplastic polymer. |
