A vertical cylindrical vessel has a concentric cell wheel with a series of vertical partitions. These extend radially to the inner wall of the vessel, so that the wheel is divided into a number of cells, and the plant serves for the continuous boiling or similar treatment of objects contg. solid matter, and esp. foodstuffs. An inlet zone and an extracting zone corresp. to the cell divisions are provided. The bottom of the cell wheel is a performed plate, grid or net of wire. In the bottom of the vessel in a boiling zone, means of heating are provided, and there is also a heating zone and a cooling zone. In the bottom of the vessel apart from the boiling zone, radial partitions are also provided corresp. to the divisions of the wheel. Pumping systems for the circulation of the fluid in countercurrent through the heating and cooling zones are also provided, and there is a mechanism for rotating the cell in steps through an angle corresponding to the size of the cells. Used to make the operation of boiling foodstuffs fully automatic in a plant in which the heat given off in the cooling zone is recirculated and which occupies the minimal space. |
