CARBA DERIVATIVES OF SOMATOSTATIN AND PROCESS THEREFOR Compounds of the formula I in which X is (CH2)k wherein k is an integer from 1 to 9, or (CH2)n S-(CH2)m wherein m and n each is an integer from 1 to 4 and Y is Trp or D-Trp, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof are disclosed. The compounds of formula I are useful for the management of diabetes and the treatment of acromegaly in mammals. Compositions and methods for their use are also disclosed.
