The cover provides a long antitracking path between terminals and has a low overall profile enabling batteries to be stacked without damage. The cover is rectangular, fitting over the battery edges and has a low (1) and a raised section. The raised section is no higher than the terminals (2), including the filler and top-up access holes (3) and having a broad 'T' shaped form. The vertical leg of the 'T' extends between the two terminals to one side of the battery. Each access hole has a recessed shoulder into which fits the lead of the filler cap such that its upper surface is flush with that of the cover. A detachable hinged cover protects each terminal.
